GRINNELL, Iowa –
Ryan Slager '19 continued his journey up the NCAA all-time leader board as the Grinnell College football team lost a 53-7 battle to Ripon College on a rainy and blustery Saturday at Rosenbloom Field.
Slager recorded 15 tackles, boosting his career total to 511 which ranks third in NCAA Division III history. Slager also had a half-tackle for loss and fumble recovery.
Jeff Keele '19 and
Hassan Thompson '19 also continued their solid senior seasons, with Keele making 12 tackles with 1.5 for loss and Thompson eight stops with 2.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
Tom Henehan '21 also had eight tackles.
Offensively,
Matt Siff '22 scored his first career touchdown.
Dustin Saia '22 led the rushing attack with 33 yards and caught four passes for 36 yards.
David Taylor '20 added 56 receiving yards on two receptions, and
Jake Kaplinski '22 completed 7-of-17 passes for 52 yards.
Ripon, 3-1 on the season, got out to a 13-0 lead by the end of the first period, was up 30-0 at halftime and took a 51-0 edge by the end of the third period. Ripon went up 53-0 in the fourth period before Grinnell got its lone scoring drive, going 88 yards in 13 plays. Saia had a 13-yard run on the drive and Kaplinski a 54-yard pass to Taylor before Siff rushed it in from a yard out with 18 seconds left.

Grinnell, 1-3 opens up Midwest Conference South Division play next Saturday at Monmouth College. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
