Yang converts hat trick to send Grinnell men's soccer team past Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - Jasper Yang '22 converted a hat trick to help Grinnell College's men's soccer team halt a two-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over Beloit College Saturday afternoon.

Yang opened the scoring in the third minute and Dylan Maddux '25 scored eight minutes later to push Grinnell ahead 2-0. Ray Goedeker '22 and Noah Guyton '23 assisted those goals.

Right before half, Beloit scored two quick goals to tie the contest at 2-all heading into halftime.

It didn't stay that way for long, as Yang got his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute to put the Pioneers ahead to stay. Goedeker had the assist.

Grinnell (2-2 Midwest Conference, 5-6 overall) got some cushion when Oliver Northing '25 scored in the 78th minute and Yang converted his third goal of the game six minutes later on an assist by Sam Heller '23. 

Beloit (1-3 MWC, 3-6-1 overall) finished the scoring in the 88th minute.

Yang had 16 of Grinnell's shots, Northing took three and Maddux two.

Goedeker's assists give him 14 for his career, tying him for seventh in program history with Neil Goodspeed.

Grinnell returns to the home field Wednesday when Monmouth College visits for a 4:30 p.m. test.
