GALESBURG, Ill. -Â Grinnell College's men's track and field team collected eight event victories in its opening action of the season Saturday at the Prairie Fire Invitational.Â

Individual champs were
Kort Breshears '23 in the javelin (132-6),
Aiden Gilbert '23 in the long jump (21-2),
Andrew Nickeson '23 in the 1500-meter run (4:13.84);Â
Micah Cantor '24 in the 800Â (2:01.16);
Brad Geiman '21 in the 400 hurdles (1:00.00);
Andrew Fuller '24 in the 200 (23.22) and
Andrew George '21 in the 5000 (18:20.30). Gilbert's effort in the long jump was just off the school's all-time top 10 list.Â

The Pioneers also won the 4x100 relay with
Alex Hiser '23, Fuller,
Kyler Walcher '23 and Geiman. Their time was 44.88. Runners-up for Grinnell were Hiser in the long jump (20-2 ½) and 100 (11.39),
Bradley Ramsey '24 in the 1500 (4:23.30), Nickeson in the 800 (2:01.67) and Gilbert in the 200 (23.89).Â

Taking third for the Pioneers were
Luke Mohan '21 in the pole vault (9-6 ¾),
Brian Goodell '24 in the 1500 (4:25.60), Fuller in the 100 (11.55) and
Neil Israni '23 in the 5000 (20:46.77).Â

The Pioneers, who finished second in the team standings with 63 points, will compete in the IC True Blue meet next Saturday in Jacksonville, Ill.Â
