WHITEWATER, Wis. - Doubles was the name of the game for the Grinnell College women's tennis team as the Pioneers raced to a high team finish at the highly-competitive Warhawk Invitational Saturday.Â

The Pioneers placed second of eight teams at the event hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and won two of the three doubles divisions. Grinnell finished with 43 points, placing only behind the host school's total of 47.Â

Giannakou and Martin blanked their foe from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-0 in the first round, won 8-2 over a squad from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the semifinals and then topped the second seed from UW-Whitewater 8-4 in the final.Â

At No. 3, Jarvis and Martin won 8-1 over the team from UW-Eau Claire and 8-3 over a squad from UW-Whitewater before beating the top-seeded duo, also from UW-Whitewater, 8-2.Â

Grinnell had two singles runners-up, Sabrina Tang '23 at No. 1 and
Sydney Marin '25 at No. 3. The second-seeded Tang beat foes from Carthage 6-1, 6-1 and UW-Whitewater 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 before losing to the top seed from UW-La Crosse 7-5, 7-6 in the title match.Â

Marin, also seeded second, posted wins of 6-0, 6-1 over a player from Augustana and 6-3,
