4 Grinnell players advance to singles title matches at MWC Championships

MADISON, Wis. - Four Grinnell College singles entries will be playing for Midwest Conference women's tennis titles after successful outings Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Center.


Grinnell's singles finalists at the Nos. 3 through 6 levels are Tan Mukherjee '26, Addie Persian '27, Alyssa Trapp '26 and Nehir Ergun '26. 

Mukherjee and Persian won semifinal tests against foes from Illinois College by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 7-6, 7-5, respectively. Trapp beat a foe from Cornell College 1-6, 6-3 6-4 and Ergun was a 7-5, 6-1 winner over a player from Monmouth College.

Anika Sheth '26 and Nichole Henning '26 won quarterfinals at Nos. 1 and 2 before losing in the semifinals.

At the No. 2 doubles level, Mukherjee and Ergun won 8-4 over an opponent from Monmouth in the quarterfinals. The other two doubles entries, Henning-Sheth at No. 1 and Persian-Trapp at No. 3, received byes into the semifinals.

The tourney concludes Sunday.
