Grinnell netters extend shutout streak as Lowrey collects another school record

Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Grinnell College volleyball shutout streak has been extended by yet another match and Payton Lowrey '23 has secured yet another school record.

The Pioneers posted their fifth 3-0 victory in a row Friday night, shutting down Earlham College 26-24, 25-16 and 25-21 at the Washington University-St. Louis Tournament.

Lowrey had three ace serves in the match, boosting her career total to 199. That ties the mark established by Kaylin Kuhn.

Rachel Woock '24 tallied nine kills, Emily Brewer '24 contributed 23 assists and Woock and Sophie Weber '25 had two aces each. Lowrey led the team in digs with 16.

The first set was tight throughout, with Grinnell breaking a 24-all tie on a kill by Brewer and attack error by Earlham.

Grinnell used a 7-1 run in the second set to break away from a 9-all tie en route to victory. The third set was more of the same, with a 6-0 run that included two aces by Lowrey and two kills from Woock helping secure the win.

Grinnell improved to 17-6 with the win and Earlham fell to 12-12.

Grinnell finishes up the tournament Saturday with matches against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the seventh-ranked host school.
