Women's Volleyball Ted Schultz

GC volleyball team prepares for another trip to MWC Tourney

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Six days after facing Lake Forest College in regular-season play, the Grinnell College volleyball team will meet up with the Foresters again Friday in the opening round of the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Grinnell is the third seed in the event at Mount Vernon, going 6-2 in MWC play and 17-10 overall. Lake Forest, the second seed, is 7-1 in the league and 15-12 overall. They will play at 4:30 p.m. and that match will be followed at 7 p.m. by top-seeded host Cornell College against fourth-seeded Illinois College.

The winners meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, with that winner advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

In MWC play, Hayley Taka '26 leads Grinnell with 3.33 kills per set while Jenna Keller '24 averages 2.39 and Malaina Miles with 2.23. Emily Brewer '24 averages 8.82 assists per set and Payton Lowrey '23 is tops in digs at 7.56.

Madison Stevens leads the Foresters in league play with 3.21 kills per set and Mary Gegen averages 2.94. Juli Barrientos and Lilly Robinson average 4.90 and 4.55 assists, respectively, and Izzy Visnjevac is at 4.48 digs per set.
