GRINNELL, Iowa – Despite winning the hitting battle 10-8, the Grinnell College baseball team wound up on the short end of an 8-6 decision aginst Knox College on Senior Day Sunday at Pioneer Park.
Grinnell (11-13 Midwest Conference, 14-21 overall) was hampered by six errors in the contest, which was the season finale for both teams.
Mac McCain '25 and
Shiva Bucklin '22 each had three hits for the Pioneers. Grinnell gained a 2-0 lead when
Matthew Inaba '22 hit an RBI groundout in the second inning and Bucklin rapped an RBI single to left in the third.
Knox (6-17 MWC, 8-26) came back with four unanswered runs to take the lead for good.
Ethan Crawford '25 knocked in a run for Grinnell on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning and McCain plated a run with an infield single in the eighth.
Garrett Nasif '24, who struck out nine batters in just over five innings of work, was the pitcher of record for Grinnell.
