More records tumble as Grinnell women's golf team claims 5th consecutive SLIAC crown

METAMORA, Ill. - The records kept tumbling for the Grinnell College women's golf team at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championship Tuesday.

The Pioneers easily captured their fifth SLIAC crown in a row at Metamora Fields, finishing the three-day event with a 907. That 54-hole total bettered the SLIAC and school record of 911, registered at last year's league meet.

Leading the charge for the Pioneers was Meilin Hoshino '27, who won with a SLIAC and school-record score of 212. That bettered the SLIAC mark of 225 set last season by Kavya Keshav '26, and school record of 221 by Vrishali Sinha in 2016.

Hoshino, who set a school single-round record Monday with a 66, was named the SLIAC Player and Newcomer of the Year. She had a 75 on the final day with three birdies.

Grinnell, which won its 11th conference title in a row with six coming as part of the Midwest Conference and the last five in the SLIAC, dominated this year's meet by having the top five golfers and seven of the top eight. Cole Cody was named Coach of the Year in his first season guiding the team.

Emily Lackershire '27 claimed runner-up honors for Grinnell with a 220, golfing a 74 Tuesday with a birdie. Vidushi Keni '26 was third at 229, Mary Li '25 was fourth with a 230 and Amy Nguyen '26 tied for fifth at 232. Keni had a 78 on Tuesday with two birdies, Li shot 79 with three birdies and Nguyen fired an 81 with one birdie.

Lauren Chen '24 and Keshav placed seventh and eighth at 233 and 234, respectively. Chen's final round of 77 included four birdies and Keshav shot 79 with the aid of one birdie.

Saya Geisendorfer '27 shot a 78 Tuesday for a final score of 239, good for 11th place. Parker Perry '24 placed 15th with a 245 after shooting 82. Each had two birdies on the day.

Lake Forest College placed a distant second in the meet with a 970.
