Grinnell topples several nationally-ranked teams at Preview to the DIII Championshps golf meet

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Grinnell College's women's golf team had a marked improvement Monday, bettering the previous day's score by eight strokes while finishing in a ninth-place tie at the Preview to the DIII Championships.
 
The Pioneers jumped up two spots in the team standings, tying with ninth-ranked Washington University of St. Louis and beating six nationally-ranked teams.
 
Grinnell's Meilin Hoshino '27 tied for ninth individually in the 90-golfer field with a 148, following Sunday's round of 75 with a 1-over-par 73 Monday at Keene Trace Golf Club.
 
Emily Lackershire '27 added a 75 Monday for a total of 155, while Lauren Chen '24 equaled Sunday's score with another 78 for a 156. Vidushi Keni '26 also had a 78 for an overall total of 157 and Sara Meneses '26 golfed a 90 for a total of 172.
 
The individual champ was Alison Takamiya of George Fox University with a 140. Seventh-ranked Carnegie Melon University won the team title with a 584.584.
