GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's track and team team rode its balance to a third-place finish at the Darren Young Classic Saturday at the Bear Center Field House.

That balance was on display as the Pioneers' strong finish came while winning just one event, that champ being
Keely Miyamoto '26 in the 5000-meter run. Miyamoto outdid 14 other runners with a time of 18 minutes, 10.56 seconds, which ranks third in program history and is the fastest at Grinnell since 2008. Miyamoto defeated the runner-up by more than 14 seconds.

Grinnell had a solid showing in the 5000, as
Emma Schaefer '23 took fourth in 19:07.31 and
Mira Diamond-Berman '25 placed seventh in 19:57.47.

Runners-up for Grinnell were
Morgan Karow '26 in the 3000 with a time of 11:20.53 and the 4x400 relay team of
Sonia Edassery '24,
Sadie Staker '24,
Maile Crowe '25 and
Athena Frasca '23. Their time of 4:13.40 ranks seventh in program history and is the best at the school since 2014.

Ava Taylor '25, Crowe and Frasca took third in the 4x200 relay in 1:48.94, a time that is second in program history only behind the 2013 team's time of 1:47.58.

Melanie Oden '25 added third-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 15-4 ¾ and 31-7 ¼, respectively.
Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 was sixth in the long jump at 14-11 ¼ and
Mira Vollmayr-Lee '26 took sixth in the triple jump with an effort of 26-5 ¾.

Edassery posted the sixth-best time in program history in the 200 with a clocking of 27.40, good for fourth place in the event. Frasca was seventh in 27.48.

Grinnell tied Augustana College for third place in the nine-team field with 64 points. Central College won the meet with 177.5 points.
