Grinnell women post 2 victories at D3 Challenge in Texas

SEGUIN, Texas - Grinnell College's women's track and field team collected two event victories and some entries onto the program's top 10 leader board at the highly-competitive D3 Challenge Saturday.


Sonia Edassery '24 sprinted to victory in the 200-meter dash with a clocking of 26.14 seconds,which ranks fourth in program history. Grinnell's other win was by Hannah Roark '26, who won the 5000 in 20:01.89.

Edassery added a third-place finish in the 400 in 1:00.64, which just missed the all-time top 10. Diana Barba '26 was fourth in the 5000 in 20:30.47 and Melanie Oden '25 had the same placing in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 7 inches. That boosted Oden from 10th to eighth on Grinnell's top 10 list.

In the 800, Sam Reid '23 was fifth in 2:28.64 and Roark took sixth in 2:29.60. Oden was eighth in the long jump with a jump of 15-1.25 and Mira Vollmayr-Lee '26 took eighth in the triple jump at 28-6.25.

Kylie Galowitz '26 placed ninth in discus with a toss of 111-2. Galowitz also threw 104-7 in the hammer, which ranks seventh on Grinnell's top 10 list.
