Grinnell women's track and field team collects several big performances on home track

Results

GRINNELL, Iowa - The Grinnell College women's track and field team made the most of competing on the home surface Saturday, collecting six event victories on a blustery day at the Dick Young Invitational.


Champs for the Pioneers were Eva Carchidi '24 in the 100-meter dash (12.84 seconds), Keely Miyamoto '26 in the 1500 (5:06.21), Aiyana Rockwell '24 in the discus (39.92 meters), Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 in the long jump (4.75 meters) and Mira Vollmayr-Lee '26 in the triple jump (8.73 meters).

Carchidi's time ranks seventh in program history and Rockwell's toss in the discus is third-best at Grinnell.

Individual runners-up for the Pioneers were Ava Taylor '25 in the 100 (13.44), Sonia Edassery '24 in the 200 (27.07), Athena Frasca '23 in the 400 (1:04.12), Emma Schaefer '23 in the 1500 (5:09.44), Mira Diamond-Berman '25 in the 3000 (11:08.17), Sadie Staker '24 in the 100 and 400 hurdles (17.47 and 1:10.83) and Vollmayr-Lee in the long jump (3.92 meters).

The 4x100 relay team of Edassery, Taylor, Maile Crowe '25 and Carchidi sprinted to a runner-up finish in 51.06, the third-best time in program history. Also placing second was the 4x400 relay team of Grace Charron '26, Sophia Ford '25, Hannah Roark '26 and Ginger Mullen '25 (4:46.24).

Individuals placing third were Melanie Oden '25 in the 100 (13.82), Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 in the 200 (29.22), Sam Reid '23 in the 800 (2:27.39), Roark in the 1500 (5:09.45), Ford in the 3000 (11:59.22), Grace Marsh '25 in the javelin (28.56 meters) and Annie Filkins '24 in the hammer (37.98 meters), Filkins' toss ranks fourth in program history.

Placing fourth were Jessica Goodman '26 in the 100 (15.01), Kaczmarczyk in the 800 (2:31.40) and Morgan Karow '26 in the 1500 (5:14.43), while fifth went to Alexandra Natalie '26 in the 200 (32.65), Roark in the 800 (2:33.45), Diana Barba '26 in the 1500 (5:15.84) and Filkins in the discus (36.03 meters).

Additionally, Grinnell hammer throwers Kylie Galowitz '26 threw 32.78 meters and Maddy Strovers '26 went 31.55. Those performances rank seventh and eighth in program history.
