Grinnell women shatter school record in 4x100 relay at Kip Janvrin Invitational

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's 4x100-meter relay team not only broke the school record, but the quartet did so in convincing fashion.

Grinnell's squad of Sonia Edassery '24, Ava Taylor '25, Maile Crowe '25 and Eva Carchidi '24 sprinted around the oval at the Kip Janvrin Invitational in 49.50 seconds, beating the previous mark of 50.15 established in 2019. Grinnell placed sixth in the event at a large meet consisting of NCAA and NAIA schools of all levels.

Grinnell had several other entries or improvements on its all-time top 10 list. Keely Miyamoto '26 continued the climb on the 5000 list, running a time of 17:41.20 to place 14th. Miyamoto's time ranks third in program history and is the best at Grinnell since 2007.

Carchidi moved into fourth all-time in the 200 with a clocking of 26.14, good for eighth place. Edassery was ninth in the event in 26.54.

Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 ran the 300 steeplechase in 12:32.02, which ranks eighth all-time at Grinnell. Sadie Staker '24 was ninth in the 400 hurdles in 1:09.19 and 18th in the 100 hurdles in 17.49.

Aiyana Rockwell '24 placed ninth in the discus with a toss of 38.41 meters, while Sara Booher '25 was 10th in the shot put at 10.68 meters and Kylie Galowitz '26 18th with a throw of 9.33 meters.

Other top field event performances came from Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 in the long jump (4.67 meters), Grace Marsh '25 in the javelin (14th at 26.16 meters) and Melanie Oden '25 in the triple jump (14th at 9.73 meters). Oden was also 20th in the 100 in 13.72.
