Grinnell women put up several strong performances at Rittgers Invitational

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - One event victory and a trio of entries onto the Grinnell College all-time leader board were huge highlights for the Pioneer women's track and field team at the Coe College Rittgers Invitational on Friday.

Keely Miyamoto '26 raced to victory in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18 minutes, 17.36 seconds. That time ranks eighth in program history.

Sonia Edassery '24 cruised to a runner-up finish in the 400 in 59.76, the sixth-best time at Grinnell. The Pioneers also got a runner-up finish from Sadie Staker '24 in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:11.39.

Placing third were Eva Carchidi '24 in the 100 (13.20) and Morgan Karow '26 in the 5000 (19:02.84). Carchidi led a strong Grinnell charge in the 100, as Edassery placed fifth in 13.59 and Ava Taylor '25 seventh in 13.71.

Aiyana Rockwell '24 took fifth in the discus at 119 feet, 9 inches, while Annie Filkins '24 placed sixth with a throw of 118-2. Filkins' performance ranks ninth in program history.

Staker got sixth in the 100 hurdles in 17.66, while eighth place went to Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 in the 800 (2:34.63) and Allison Rabbani '25 in the 1500 (5:25.03).

Grinnell was fifth in the team standings with 56 points.
