GC women's golfers put together another strong round at IWU Fall Classic

NORMAL, Ill. - Another balanced performance lifted Grinnell College's women's golf team to a fifth-place finish in a loaded field at the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic Sunday.


After shooting a 309 on Saturday at Ironwood, the Pioneers improved by four strokes the following day with a 305 for a final score of 614. That tally ranks among the 10 best two-day scores in program history.

Grinnell finished four shots ahead of 24th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the 16-team meet and placed behind three teams in the national rankings and another receiving votes for the rankings.

Meilin Hoshino '27 tied for ninth in the 112-golfer field with a 149, improving by five strokes Sunday with a 72. Vidushi Keni '26 was next in line for Grinnell with a 150, shooting consecutive 75s to finish in a 12th-place tie.

Saya Geisendorfer '27 had a 77 Sunday and finished at 156, Lauren Chen '24 had an 83 on the final day to finish at 161 and Kavya Keshav '26 shot 81 Sunday to also finish at 161.

Second-ranked Washington University of St. Louis won the meet with a 548 and had the individual champ in Sydney Kuo, who shot 141.
