2024 All-MWC Football Team
GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's marked improvement on the football field this season has been recognized today via the 2024 All-Midwest Conference Team.
The Pioneers had three All-MWC selections, their most since 2013, and their two first-teamers are the most since 2015.
Tyrell Taylor '25 and
Travis Chu '25 were named to the elite unit at the offensive line and defensive line spots, respectively.
Hugh Werner '25 collected second-team honors at linebacker.
Taylor anchored a Grinnell offensive line that produced a passing attack that posted the fourth-best completion percentage (60.1 percent) in program history and the best rushing attack in nearly a decade.
Chu provided a huge disruption for opposing offenses, ranking ninth in the league with a team-high 10 tackles for loss for 32 yards. He had 35 total tackles, including 23 solos, as well as two sacks for 10 yards.
Werner was fourth in the MWC with 82 tackles, including 48 solos, along with an interception, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. He finished seventh on Grinnell's career tackles chart with 296.
MWC champ Lake Forest College claimed three of the league's six major awards with Ian Ramey (Offensive Line MVP), A.J. Jackson (Offensive Skill MVP) and Jim Catanzaro (Coach of the Year). Monmouth College swept the defensive awards with Tevin Baker and Nick Harris (Defensive Line and Skill MVPs). Lawrence University's Jahlan Paul was named Newcomer of the Year and Knox College won the Sportsmanship Award.
