All-MWC Release
GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's basketball team was rewarded for its successful campaign with a strong showing on the 2024 All-Midwest Conference Team.

The Pioneers collected two of the major awards, as
Kai Te Huki '27 was named the program's first-ever Newcomer of the Year and
David Arseneault Jr. earned Coach of the Year honors.

Te Huki was also named to the All-MWC first team, while teammate
Gabe Garcia '27 collected second-team honors. Two All-MWC selections are the most for the Pioneers since the 2015 season.

Te Huki, the nation's leading scorer, was tops in league scoring with a 25.8 point per game average and 3-pointers per game with 4.3. He ranked second in free throw percentage (78.9 percent) and fourth in 3-point percentage (35.1 percent).

Garcia ranked among the league's top 10 in scoring with 15.6 points per game. He was third in assists per game (3.4), sixth in steals (1.6), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.0) and ninth in field goal percentage (45.7 percent).

Arseneault Jr., Grinnell's first Coach of the Year since his father won the award in 2011, guided the Pioneers to a 12-4 mark in MWC play this season and 18-6 overall record. A former star player for the Pioneers, he earned his 100
th career victory earlier this season. He is assisted by
DJ Damazo and volunteer assistant coach
Jeff Smith.
Jake Mazrimas of Illinois College was named MWC Player of the Year and Lawrence University earned the Team Sportsmanship Award.
