GC women's golf team moves up to capture runner-up honors at Wartburg Spring Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's golfers jumped a spot to second place in the final standings, finishing only behind ninth-ranked St. Catherine University at the Wartburg Spring Invite Sunday.


The 20th-ranked Pioneers followed Saturday's round of 335 at Waverly Municipal with a 331 for a two-day final score of 666. That pushed them from third to second in the 12-team meet. St. Catherine finished at 643.

Meilin Hoshino '27 and Sara Meneses '26 led Grinnell, tying for seventh in the 64-golfer field with 165s. Hoshino went from an 86 Saturday to a 79, while Meneses added rounds of 81 and 84.

Vidushi Keni '26 was right behind them, tying for 10th with an 83-84-167. Kavya Keshav '26, Emily Lackershire '27 and Parker Perry '24 all tied for 12th with 168s. Keshav had rounds of 86 and 82, Lackershire went 82 and 86 and Perry followed Saturday's round of 90 with a 78. Lauren Chen '24 was in the mix, too, by placing 21st with a 172.

The individual champ was St. Catherine's Kyra Venne with a 19-over-par 159.
