Grinnell men's basketball team, 8 players honored for academics by NABC

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College men's basketball team was well-represented in terms of awards from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

The Pioneers earned the 2023-24 Team Academic Excellence Award and also had eight players selected to the NABC Honors Court, which is for juniors, seniors and graduate students with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher. Honors Court selections from Grinnell were Jordon Ryan '24, David Bluder '25, Dillon Gestring '25, Jack Ruhanen '25, Jackson Leone '25, Max DeGeorge '25, Mitch Priest '25 and Tolu Johnson '25. Over 2,100 players were named to the Honors Court.

Grinnell was also one of more than 360 squads to earn the Team Academic Excellence Award, which goes to teams with GPAs of 3.0 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year.

"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."
