Balance is name of the game in successful GC men's golf outing

PELLA, Iowa - Balance was the name of the game as Grinnell College's men's golf team put itself just two shots off the lead after the first day of the Central Fall Classic Monday.


Four Pioneers were within two shots of each other as Grinnell shot a 301, good for second place in the 16-team field and just behind the University of Dubuque. The Spartans are in first place with a 299.

Spencer Moody '29 led the Pioneers with 2-over-par 74 at Bos Landon Golf Resort, good for fifth place in the 97-golfer field. He had three birdies on the day.

Also in the top 10 was Josh Udelson '29, ninth place at 75. Everett Williams '29 and Roger Smith '28 were just one stroke behind Udelson with 76s. They are tied for 14th. Smith had three birdies on Monday, while Udelson and Williams each had two.

Max Shin '29 came in at 89 for Grinnell with two birdies and Harrison Elliott '29 fired an 89.

Pranav Nandakumar is the individual leader with a 70.

The meet concludes Tuesday.
