GREENVILLE, Ill. - Grinnell College's baseball team bounced back from a loss to Illinois Wesleyan University in a big way Sunday, rallying to win the second game of a season-opening twin bill 12-4.

The Pioneers erupted for six runs in the fourth inning and added six more in the ninth after the Titans had closed within 6-4.

Jakob Runkel '26 picked up the pitching win, scattering five hits and not issuing a run over five innings. He struck out two. Daniel Shaul '26, Kenji Kajita '25, Adam Gallegos '28 and Matthew Nakamoto '25 combined on five-hit ball the rest of the way.

The Pioneers rapped out 11 hits, with Ethan Crawford '25 getting three and Nathan McCurdy '25 and Mac McCain '25 adding two each.

Stuart Cash '27 hit an RBI single to left-center to open the scoring, McCurdy added a two-run single, McCain plated a run with a single to left and Crawford finished things off with a two-run single to center.

After the Titans scored two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings, Crawford blasted a three-run homer in the ninth. Two wild pitches and an error accounted for the other runs.

Illinois Wesleyan used a 10-run seventh inning to rally for a 16-5 victory in the opener. Grinnell took a 5-3 lead through six innings, with Crawford's solo homer in the second accounting for one run.
