Grinnell again leads the Midwest Conference in Academic All-Conference selections

Pioneers were tops in the league in 12 of 18 sponsored sports

GRINNELL, Iowa – For the eighth time in the last nine years, Grinnell College has led all league schools in Midwest Conference All-Academic Team honorees with 308.

Grinnell's total in the 2024-25 academic year consisted of 434 actual awards, with some student-athletes earning Academic All-Conference honors in multiple sports. Lake Forest College was a distant second behind Grinnell's 308 honorees with 184, while Illinois College and Ripon College tied for third with 183.

The criteria to become an Academic All-Conference selection includes a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.33 which is calculated only in the awarded academic year. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who letter in any of the MWC's fall, winter or spring sports are eligible for the award.
 
Grinnell's dominance can be seen in the fact the Pioneers led the league in Academic All-Conference selections in 12 of the 18 sponsored sports. Those included men's cross country (21), women's cross country (23), women's tennis (16), men's basketball (15), men's indoor track and field (44), women's indoor track and field (33), men's swimming and diving (23), women's swimming and diving (26), baseball (30), men's tennis (13), men's outdoor track and field (40) and women's outdoor track and field (34).
 
The Pioneers also had the most Academic All-Conference selections in all three sports seasons, with 151 in the fall, 153 in the winter and 130 in the spring.
