Pioneers open men's golf sesaon on the right note by winning crown at own GC Invite

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's men's golf team, with four players shooting in the 70s, got its 2025-26 campaign off on the right foot by claiming top honors at the Grinnell Invite Saturday.


The Pioneers recorded a 311 to edge Mount Mercy University by a stroke in the five-team field.

Grinnell's Roger Smith '28 tied for medalist honors with Mount Mercy's Andrew Brown in the 26-golfer field, each shooting 5-over-par 75s at the Grinnell College Golf Course.

Two other Pioneers, first-years Everett Williams '29 and Spencer Moody '29, tied for third with 76s and Josh Udelson '29 added a 79 to tie for eighth.

Max Shin '29 was 11th with an 81 and Harrison Elliott '29 contributed a 93.

Grinnell's next action is in two weeks at the Saint John's University Fall Invite in St. Cloud, Minn.
