Grinnell baseball team can't dig out of early hole against Carroll

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Grinnell College's baseball team dug an early hole and couldn't climb out as the Pioneers lost a 13-3 decision to Carroll University Tuesday at the Blue Wahoos Challenge.

Grinnell, which was outhit only 13-9 at Admiral Fetterman Field, saw Carroll score seven runs in the first inning and had another big frame in the sixth with four runs.

Connor Goodson '26 and Joe Chanis '27 each had two hits to spark Grinnell's attack. Grinnell got solo runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Wyatt Raymond '28, RBI single from Chanis in the third and sacrifice fly from Stuart Cash '27 in the seventh.

David Haas '29 was the pitcher of record for the Pioneers, who are 3-6.

Grinnell is back in action Wednesday with a contest against 15th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
