Grinnell women enjoy another successful day at WashU meet

FARMINGTON, Mo. - Grinnell College's women's golfers wrapped up action at the WashU Spring Invite with another strong showing Monday at Crown Pointe Golf Club.


The Pioneers fired a 315 on the final day of the two-day event for a score of 627, putting them fourth in a field of 15 teams. The 19th-ranked Pioneers finished behind three other nationally-ranked teams, including champion WashU which shot a 588.

The Pioneers posted a pair of eagles Monday, Waverly Yang '28 getting one on the par-5 first hole and Amy Nguyen '26 nabbing one on the par-5 fifth hole.

Nguyen led the way for Grinnell on the final day, shooting a 1-over-par 73 with the help of three birdies. Yang shot 79 on Monday with two birdies, while Kavya Keshav '26 added an 81 also with two birdies. Saya Geisendorfer '27 and Vidushi Keni '26 had an 82 and 83, respectively. Geisendorfer tallied one birdie Monday and Keni added two.

On the overall chart, Nguyen was Grinnell's top shooter with a two-day score of 149. That was good for sixth place in the 82-golfer field.

Yang and Keni tied for 24th with 159s, Keshav added a 161 and Geisendorfer carded a 164. The champ was WashU's Amy Beanblossom, who finished at 144.
