Coach Tim Hollibaugh reaches 500-victory milestone with MWC Tourney title

GRINNELL, Iowa - Not only did Grinnell College's baseball team make history with Saturday's 16-3, seven-inning victory over Illinois College, but coach Tim Hollibaugh reached a milestone of his own.

As the Pioneers clinched their first-ever Midwest Conference Tournament title in 16 attempts, Hollibaugh gained his 500th career victory. He'll have a chance to add to that when the Pioneers compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history.

Hollibaugh is the second coach in MWC history to win 500 games at the same school. The other is retiring Beloit College coach Dave DeGeorge, who concluded his career with the Bucs following a loss to Monmouth College earlier in the day.

Hollibaugh began his coaching career at Grinnell in 1995 and went 7-25. Within a handful of years, he posted his first winning record with an 18-13 mark and the wins have piled up from there.

He's won 11 MWC South Division titles over the years and been named Division Coach of the Year honors nine times. Hollibaugh has coached players to All-America honors four times and All-Region recognition on 38 occasions.
