Grinnell posts 6th-best 2-day score in program history while taking 2nd at Wartburg meet

WAVERLY, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's golf team posted its sixth-best two-day score in program history while taking runner-up honors at the Wartburg Fall Invite Sunday.

Grinnell followed up Saturday's round of 301 with a 298 on the final day of the event, giving the Pioneers at 599. They finished only behind the University of Dubuque, which shot 594, in the 15-team event.

Madison Chen '30 completed her first collegiate tournament in amazing fashion, shooting a 144 to take second-place in the 91-golfer field at Prairie Links Golf & Events Center. Her two-day score ranks sixth in program history. Chen shot 72 on Sunday with the aid of four birdies.

Waverly Yang '28 tied for eighth with a 150, shooting 74 on Sunday with two birdies. Meilin Hoshino '27 tied for 15th at 153 with the aid of Sunday's 76 and two birdies. Saya Geisendorfer '27 and Caroline Hoang '30 tied for 24th with 156s, as Geisendorfer shot 80 on Sunday and Hoang added a 76. Hoang had four birdies to aid her performance.

Emily Lackershire '27 shot a 74 on the final day to finish at 154, Sammi Nguyen '30 fired an 81 for a 160 and Coco He '30 added a 79 for a 162. Lackershire and Nguyen each had one birdie.

The individual champ was Allie Pfantz of Central with a 141.
