Grinnell College’s Maria Venneri ’18 has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.
 
Pioneer athletes swept the honor, as Daniel Goldstein ’18 was tabbed the MWC Men’s Performer of the Week.
 
Venneri, from Los Alamos, N.M. (Los Alamos), shattered her own school record in the 200-yard backstroke at the Grinnell Invitational over the weekend. She swam the event in 2:08.64, topping her previous school mark of 2:09.63.
 
Venneri finished third in both the 200 and 100 backstrokes, and was on the runner-up 200 medley relay team.
