Grinnell College's Ryan Slager '19 has picked up another big honor this season by being named to the D3football.com All-West Region Team.
Slager, a 6-0, 222-pound linebacker from Orland Park, Ill. (Amos Alonzo Stagg), was a third-team All-Region selection after leading the nation in tackles for the second season in a row. He is also a two-time All-Midwest Conference selection.
Slager is the fourth Pioneer to earn All-Region honors since 2012.
A year after posting 154 tackles, Slager tallied 159 in 2017 which ranks second all-time at Grinnell, fourth in the MWC and eighth nationally.
In the season finale, Slager moved his career total to 447 tackles to break Grinnell's previous school mark of 433. That put Slager third all-time in the MWC with a season remaining to play.
Slager also had seven tackles for loss this season, three sacks, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and one interception.
