Grinnell College's Payton Lowrey '23 has been named the first Midwest Conference Volleyball Defensive Performer of the Week in the 2022 campaign.
 
Lowrey, a defensive specialist from St. Louis, Mo. (Cor Jesu Academy), was stellar in the Pioneers' season-opening tournament. She piled up 106 digs for a 5.89 per set average while recording 11 aces as Grinnell posted a 3-1 mark. Lowrey came up 34 with digs, tied for 10^th-best all-time at Grinnell and seventh in a five-setter, in a victory over Concordia-Moorhead.
