Elizabeth M. Carrier ’07 was the most dominant force in the Grinnell College women’s soccer net in program history. Playing as a goalkeeper of the squad for four years, to this day Carrier holds nearly every goalkeeping record by a wide margin. Her crowning achievement is a miraculous total of 37.5 shutouts over her time at Grinnell, eclipsing the runner-up by well over 20 games. She is also the all-time leader in goalie minutes played for the Pioneers and led the team to a record of 14 shutouts during her senior season in 2006, with another team record in goals against average at 0.37. Her time at Grinnell was the most successful in program history, earning the College the chance to host and then win an NCAA Tournament game for the first time. Carrier was a stalwart in net, earning a wealth of accolades from both her teammates and from outside entities. She was twice a captain, three-time Academic All-Conference, twice the most valuable player, multiyear All-Conference, and All-Central Region player. After leading Grinnell for four years on the field and graduating with a degree in sociology, Carrier then served as the team’s assistant coach in 2007 before moving to New Orleans to work for the Episcopal Community Services of Louisiana group with many other Grinnellians.  She eventually transitioned to working and competing in the world of CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting. She now lives in Vancouver, Canada, with her wife Rowan, and works full time at a gym. She is proud to be a part of the most dominant era of Grinnell women’s soccer history.
