ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Grinnell College women's tennis team stayed on track to win its third Midwest Conference title in a row with a 5-4 victory over Carroll University in the semifinals Friday morning.
The Pioneers had a pair of two-time winners in
Hanna Feldman '14 and
Constanza Alarcon '13. Grinnell swept doubles play for a 3-0 lead, with wins by the teams of
Clothilde Thirouin '14-
Shirlene Luk '15 (8-4), Alarcon-
Catherine Fitch '13 (9-8) and Feldman-
Julia Rumley '16 (8-2).
Alarcon posted a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and Feldman was victorious 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 4.
Grinnell, 9-3, will meet Lake Forest College Friday afternoon for the title. Carroll, 11-3, takes on St. Norbert College for third place.
