MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Grinnell College football team will conclude its 2012 campaign Saturday against Midwest Conference foe Cornell College.
The contest at Mount Vernon will kick off at noon, different than the typical 1 p.m. starts.
Grinnell enters the game at 2-6 in the MWC and 2-7 in all games following a hard-fought 20-12 setback to St. Norbert College last Saturday.
David Ternes '15 had a game-high 15 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble for the Pioneers, while
Drew Blumberg '13 added 12.tackles.
Kevin Hwang '14 returned a fumble for a touchdown and blocked a punt.
Offensively,
Aamir Walton '15 caught seven passes for 69 yards,
Graham Fisher '16 kicked field goals of 40 and 22 yards and
Sam Poulos '16 passed for 127 yards.
For the season, Poulos has completed 157-of-274 passes for 1,553 yards and 14 touchdowns.
TJ Schaid '13 has rushed for 549 yards.
Ternes leads the team in tackles with 94, Blumberg has 66,
Colton Feller '14 has 59 and Hwang has 56.
Cornell enters Saturday's game at 3-5 in the MWC and 3-6 in all games following a 50-28 loss to Illinois College last Saturday.
Juan Flores has completed 184-of-296 passes for 2,429 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Rams. Justin Cox and Ben Knake each have 57 catches for 881 and 665 yards, respectively.
Geoffrey Miller leads the defense with 102 tackles while Nick Brautigam has 74.
Grinnell last played Cornell in 2009 when the Rams were a member of the Iowa Conference.
