Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – Playing their first home game in three weeks, the Grinnell College women's soccer team put together a dominating performance to defeat Illinois College 4-0 Saturday at Springer Field.

The Pioneers outshot the Lady Blues 18-2 and got a pair of goals from Dabney Hofammann '15 and one each from Nicole Sipfle '13 and Patty Murphy-Geiss '14.

Keepers Jordan Young '14 and Katy Oldach '16 combined on the shutout for the Pioneers, who are 2-1 in the Midwest Conference and 2-5-1 overall. Illinois College fell to 0-3 in the league and 5-6 overall.

Hofammann's first goal came in the 31st minute on an assist by Rachael Koester '13. Koester had the ball on the left side of the field, a little outside the box, and gave a high pass to Hofammann who ran past two defenders to reach it. She chipped it in above the keeper for the score.

It was Hofammann's first goal of the season and Koester's first assist.

The score remained 1-0 at halftime before Sipfle made it 2-0 in the 48th minute. The play began with a corner kick by Abby Jaeger '14. The keeper punched at the ball, but Sipfle was right there for the rebound and subsequent score. It was Sipfle's first goal of the season.

Just 25 seconds later, Murphy-Geiss made it 3-0. Jaeger crossed the ball from the right side of the field into the box, where Kathryn Vincent '13 tried but couldn't head it. However, Murphy-Geiss was nearby and tapped the ball into the net for the goal. It was Murphy-Geiss' first goal and Jaeger's first assist of the season.

Hofammann got her second goal of the game, and team-leading second goal of the season, in the 79th minute. Pauline Zheng '14 sent a cross to Hofammann in the middle of the field. She easily overtook two defenders while working her way down the field. She struck the ball, which was deflected by the keeper, but Hofammann got the rebound and tapped it in for the score.
