Pioneer women's basketball team falls to St. Norbert

Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's basketball team dropped an 80-57 decision to perennial Midwest Conference power St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon at Darby Gymnasium.

Alissa Hirsh '16 and Cristal Coleman '15 had 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Grinnell. Coleman also had a team-high six rebounds and Hirsh three assists.

Alex Plemmons '15 added five rebounds and a block, while Ariel Keller '17 was credited with two steals.

Grinnell is now 0-4 in the league and 0-6 overall, while St. Norbert improved to 2-0 in MWC play and 5-1 in all games.

Grinnell got out to a quick lead, as Coleman's 3-pointer at the 19:19 mark put the Pioneers ahead by three. Grinnell's last lead came on another Coleman trey, putting the hosts up 8-6 at the 16:42 mark. However, St. Norbert responded with an 11-0 run for a 17-8 cushion and continued to cruise from there.

The Green Knights went ahead by as many as 20 in the half before settling for a 41-24 lead at the break. The visitors never looked back after that.

Grinnell steps out of league play Monday when Benedictine College of Kansas visits Darby Gymnasium. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
