Box Score 2 WEBSTER GROVE, Mo. – The Grinnell College softball team lost its season openers Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0 and 15-4 at Webster University.
In the first game, Grinnell managed two hits. Those were singles by
Aniela Wendt '14 and
Grace Ryan '14. Webster scored two runs in the first inning, another in the second, two more in the third and two more in the sixth.
In the second game, Grinnell scored two runs in the top of the first inning before the hosts answered with four in the bottom of the frame and five more in the second for a 9-2 lead. Grinnell scratched out solo runs in the third and fourth innings, while Webster tallied one in the third and five more in the fourth.

Summer Wilke '15,
Kristina Weber '16 and
Alyssa Bean '16 all had hits for the Pioneers, who had six errors in the game.
In the first inning, Wendt walked and eventually scored on Bean's double. Weber later scored after reaching on an error.
In the third, Ryan walked, moved to second on Wilke's single and scored on Weber's single.
Robin Campbell '16 reached on an error in the fourth, stole second and scored on Ryan's RBI single.
Grinnell, 0-2, travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for its spring break contests.
