Krull wins pair of matches in loss to regionally-ranked Hope

Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. – Laura Krull '13 earned a pair of wins as Grinnell College's women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to regionally-ranked Hope College on Thursday.

Krull won her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-4 and posted an 8-5 victory with Catherine Fitch '13 at No. 2 doubles.

Grinnell is now 11-6, while Hope – ranked 15th in the Central Region of NCAA Division III – improved to 5-1.

“I'm proud of the way Laura Krull competed today, playing a solid player in the region and coming up with a singles victory as well as a doubles win,” said Grinnell coach Andy Hamilton. “Our women continue to forge ahead against very good opponents. Hope was an NCAA Tournament team last year, and I think in the next five weeks of play and practice we'll be able to close the gap on teams like them.”

The Pioneers close out their spring break trip against Calvin College on Friday. “We expect it to  be a very competitive match,” said Hamilton.
