Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Grinnell College women's tennis team finished up its spring break trip on a strong note Friday, sailing past Calvin College 7-2.

Grinnell won the top five flights of singles, with wins coming from Laura Krull '13 (6-1, 6-0), Shirlene Luk '15 (6-0, 6-1), Clothilde Thirouin '14 (6-0, 6-4), Catherine Fitch '13 (6-2, 6-3) and Emma Macdonald '14 (6-2, 6-3).

In doubles, Luk and Thirouin won 8-4 at No. 1 and Krull and Fitch teamed up for an 8-1 victory at No. 2.

Grinnell is now 12-6, while Calvin fell to 2-6.

“This was a nice way to finish off our spring break trip, where we played five matches in the start of our spring season,” said Grinnell coach Andy Hamilton. “I thought all our doubles teams played much better today than we showed through the week. We were a little more consistent and much more aggressive at the net.

“I'm really pleased that Laura and Shirlene continued their great week of singles with victories again today,” he added. “But it was nice to see the rest of our players - Clo, Catherine, Emma and Emily (Groth '14) - put together some successful singles.”

The Pioneers are off until April 7 when they play at Coe College.
