Grinnell softball team loses 2 to Knox

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GALESBURG, Ill. – The Knox College softball team took a pair of games from Grinnell College Sunday afternoon, winning 8-0 and 6-2.

In the opener, Grinnell collected three hits. Those were singles by Summer Wilke '15, Jeanette Au '16 and Jordan Matosky '16. Knox got one run in the first inning, four in the third, another in the fifth and two in the sixth. Wilke was the pitcher of record for the Pioneers.

In the second game, Knox scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth before the Pioneers halved that deficit with two in the fifth. Aniela Wendt '14 led off with a single and Wilke walked before each stole a base. Wendt scored on a passed ball and Wilke scored on Alyssa Bean's '16 RBI single.

Knox finished off the scoring with two runs in the sixth. Grinnell's other hit in the game came from Robin Campbell '16, while Jennifer Fulton '15 was the pitcher of record.

Grinnell fell to 0-11 in the Midwest Conference and 0-25 in all games, while Knox moved to 5-8 in league play and 6-19 overall.

The Pioneers entertain Lake Forest College on Saturday at the Softball Complex. The first pitch of the twin bill is slated for 1 p.m.
