IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in the Midwest Conference South Division and 6-2 overall with an 8-1 victory over Cornell College Wednesday night.

The Pioneers swept doubles play with the teams of Shirlene Luk '15-Sadhana Athreya '14 (8-5), Emma Macdonald '14-Shanaz Daneshdoost '17 (8-2) and Hanna Feldman '14-Virginia Purcell '17 (8-2).

Grinnell also won No. 1 singles with Luk (7-5, 7-5), as well as Nos. 3 through 6 with Purcell (6-1, 6-1), Feldman (6-0, 6-0), Daneshdoost (6-0, 6-0) and Macdonald (6-0, 6-3).

Cornell is now 0-1 in the MWC South and 1-5 overall.

Grinnell will compete in the ITA Regional Tournament this weekend.
