Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's basketball team won a key contest at Cornell College Tuesday night, posting a 118-97 victory at the Multi-Sport Center.
Aaron Levin '14 of Grinnell led all scorers with 33 points, hitting 13-of-19 field goal tries and 5-of-8 shots from 3-point land.
Patrick Maher '14 added a double-double with 22 points and 12 assists.
Jack Taylor '15 added 19 points,
Julian Marx '17 drained 5-of-7 treys for 15 points and
Luke Yeager '16 had 12 points. Levin grabbed seven rebounds and Taylor came up with three steals.
Grinnell is now 11-2 overall and 6-2 in the Midwest Conference, while Cornell dipped to 6-7 in all games and 3-5 in the league.
A fast start paced the visitors, as they turned a 9-6 cushion into a 21-8 lead with a 12-2 run. Maher hit a basket and Taylor a 3-pointer to make it 14-6. Levin followed with a layup before the hosts scored.

The lead never got smaller than eight points the rest of the first half as Grinnell led 60-48 at intermission.
Cornell made it a six-point game midway through the second half when
Ryan Davis '16 hit a basket, Yeager two free throws and
Mike Porter '17 a trey to push the visitors ahead 86-73 with 10:40 left.
The gap was never smaller than eight the rest of the way as Grinnell secured the win.
The Pioneers play Lawrence University at 1 p.m. Saturday in Appleton, Wis.
