Box Score RIPON, Wis. – Grinnell College's men's basketball team fell behind 62-50 at halftime on its way to a 126-99 Midwest Conference loss at Ripon College Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers, who are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the league, had a balanced scoring attack led by
Patrick Maher's '14 19-point output.
Jack Taylor '15 added 17 points,
Luke Yeager '15 tallied 15 and
Cody Olson '14 had 12.
Maher dished out eight assists and blocked two shots, while
Tague Zachary '15 and
Dylan Bartuch '15 had two steals apiece.
Aaron Levin '14 grabbed five rebounds.
Kyle Loughrin scored 23 points for the Red Hawks, who are 7-4 in all games and 4-2 in the MWC.
Grinnell twice went up by four points early, the first time at 8-4 on Olson's 3-pointer and again at 10-6 on Taylor's basket. Later the Pioneers took another four-point lead when
Kyle Parker '17 had a basket that made it 26-22, but Ripon responded with a 13-point run to go ahead 35-26 with 6:11 to go in the half.
The Red Hawks went up by as many as 14 before settling for a 12-point lead at the break. Grinnell got as close as 10 early in the second half before Ripon pulled away for the victory.
The Pioneers return to Darby Gymnasium Monday to play College of Faith, a squad making the trip from Arkansas. Game time is 7 p.m.
