Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Grinnell College men's basketball team sailed to a 136-112 victory over Blackburn College Sunday at the Colorado College Tip-Off Invitational Sunday.
Luke Yeager '15 erupted for 36 points for Grinnell, while
Jack Taylor '15 and
Braedon Bayer '18 added 22 each.
Gus King '18 scored 12 points and
Julian Marx '17 contributed 11.
With his efforts, Yeager became the 24th Pioneer in history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his career.
Nick Curta '17 came up with six rebounds and Bayer dished out six assists.
Tague Zachary '15 blocked two shots.
The contest was tight much of the first half, with Grinnell holding a six-point lead at the seven-minute mark. But then Taylor drained a 3-pointer and Bayer made a jumper to push Grinnell ahead 52-41.
The Pioneers led 75-57 at halftime and sailed from there for the win.
Taylor was named to the All-Tournament team, as was Blackburn's Chris J. Davis. Chris Lesnansky of Colorado College was the tourney MVP, while other All-Tourney selections were JJ Lacey of George Fox and Luke Winfield of Colorado College.
Grinnell plays at Beloit College this Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
