Box Score DE PERE, Wis. – The Grinnell College men's basketball team hung with 24th-ranked St. Norbert College for a half before the Green Knights pulled away for a 102-75 victory Saturday afternoon.
Luke Yeager '15 scored 26 points for the Pioneers, who are 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Midwest Conference.
Tague Zachary '15 added 10 points. Yeager also dished out five steals, while
Braedon Bayer '18 and
Jacob Ekstrand '18 had five rebounds each.
Grinnell hung close early and was down by one at 27-26 after Yeager's free throw. But the Green Knights, who moved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MWC, answered with a 12-point run en route to a 51-44 halftime lead.
Grinnell got as close as four in the second half when Yeager's trey made it 56-52 with 18:30 remaining. But St. Norbert answered with a key seven-point run and never led by less than eight after that.
Grinnell steps out of league play Tuesday with a game at William Penn University in Oskaloosa. Action begins at 2 p.m.
