Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – Midwest Conference co-leader Cornell College got out to a 46-27 halftime lead on its way to a 91-46 victory over the Grinnell College women's basketball team Wednesday night at Darby Gymnasium.
Anne Boldt '16 had a game-high 25 points with the aid of 10-of-11 free throw shooting for the Pioneers, who fell to 2-20 overall and 1-16 in the league. Boldt also had seven rebounds.
Sophia Gatton '17 and
Kaitlyn Norton '17 added seven points apiece. Gatton also had two assists and
Abby Jaeger '14 a pair of steals.
Taylor Dicus scored 20 points for the Rams, who are 19-3 overall and 15-2 in the MWC.
Grinnell was close early on, taking a 9-8 lead on Boldt's free throws with 16:05 left in the first half. Cornell then jumped ahead, but Grinnell stayed close and was down just 14-13 after Norton's basket at the 13:38 mark.
But the Rams went on an 11-point run over the next three minutes en route to a 19-point halftime lead. Cornell kept it up from there to secure the win.
Grinnell closes out its season Saturday when Lawrence University visits Darby Gymnasium on Senior Day. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
