Pioneer women's tennis team stays perfect in MWC play

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Grinnell College women's tennis team remained perfect in Midwest Conference play Sunday, shutting out Illinois College 9-0.
 
The Pioneers got singles wins from Shirlene Luk '15 (6-3, 6-0), Virginia Purcell '17 (6-2, 6-2), Hannah Cook '18 (6-0, 6-0), Anushka Joshi '18 (6-0, 6-2), Julia Rumley '16 (6-1, 6-0) and Briannah Wilson '17 (6-1, 6-4).
 
Doubles winners for Grinnell were the teams of Luk-Purcell (8-2), Cook-Rumley (8-2) and Sydney Banach '18-Joshi (8-1).
 
Grinnell is now 3-0 in the MWC and 4-2 overall, while the Lady Blues fell to 0-2 both in the league and overall.
 
Grinnell heads to St. Peter, Minn., next weekend for the ITA Regional Tournament.
