DECORAH, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's tennis team split matches Saturday, knocking off the College of Saint Benedict 6-3 and falling to Luther College 6-3.
 
Singles winners against the College of Saint Benedict were Shirlene Luk '15 (6-3, 6-4), Virginia Purcell '17 (2-6, 6-3, 10-1), Hannah Cook '18 (6-3, 6-3) and Shanaz Daneshdoost '17 (6-1, 5-7, 10-5).
 
Doubles wins came from the teams of Luk-Purcell (8-2) and Anhuskha Joshi '18-Julia Rumley '16 (8-5).
 
All three of Grinnell's wins against Luther came in singles. Luk won 6-0, 2-0 at No. 1, Cook posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 and Rumley earned a 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 victory at No. 6.
 
Grinnell, 1-2 on the season, opens Midwest Conference action next Saturday at Knox College and Monmouth College.
