Lake Forest 5, Grinnell 4WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Grinnell College women's team moved to 8-1 in Midwest Conference play Saturday with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Carroll University as well as a 5-4 loss to Lake Forest College.
Against Carroll, Grinnell got singles wins from
Judith Fan at No. 1 (6-0, 6-1),
Lily Hamilton at No. 4 (6-3, 6-3),
Anushka Joshi at No. 5 (6-4, 6-1) and
Minna Montgomery at No. 6 (3-6, 6-4, 6-0).
Sydney Banach and
Julia Rumley won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In the Lake Forest match, Fan and
Amelia Cogan won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Banach and Rumley 8-0 at No. 3. Joshi and Montgomery posted wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-2, respectively.
Grinnell, 8-3 overall, finishes out MWC dual play Sunday at Beloit College.
