Box Score 2 JANESVILLE, Wis. – Grinnell College's softball team claimed its second win in a row Sunday, topping St. Norbert College 13-9 at the Midwest Conference Crossover.
The victory was Grinnell's first against St. Norbert since 2006, snapping a seven-game losing streak against the Green Knights.
Kayla Morrissey '18 had three hits for Grinnell, while
Melissa Anderson '18 and
Kristina Weber '16 had two. Anderson had a homer in the game, Morrissey had a triple and
Megan Gibson '17 and
Maggie Remus '18 doubles.
After St. Norbert scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, the Pioneers pounded out eight runs in the second frame. Gibson an RBI double and
Jordan Matosky '17,
Sage Juveland '17, Morrissey, Anderson and Weber RBI singles.
Andi Leff '18 added an RBI on a groundout and Stariha pushed a run across with a bases-loaed walk.
St. Norbert scored twice in the bottom of the inning and three more times in the fifth to close the gap to 8-7. The Pioneers battled back with five runs in the seventh with the aid of Morrissey's three-run triple. Anderson also had a solo homer in the frame.

Grinnell followed that game with a 13-3 loss to Carroll University. Stariha had two hits for the Pioneers, who are 2-19, and Anderson belted a triple.
The Pioneers scored twice in the first inning on Anderson's two-run triple down the right-field line.
Carroll scored four runs in the third inning before the Pioneers cut the gap to 4-3 with a run in the bottom of the inning on Juveland's RBI single through the right side.
However, Carroll tacked on five runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to secure the win.
Grinnell hosts Cornell College in a twin bill Wednesday, starting at 3 p.m.
